CBD FAQS

Cannabinoids are a group of compounds that are found in the Cannabis plant. The compounds consist of CBGA, THCA, CBDA, CBCA, CBGVA, THCVA, CBDVA, and CBCVA. All of these have been found to have different health benefits ranging from possible anti-inflammation properties to assisting with anxiety relief. THCA and CBDA, also known as THC and CBD, are usually the most abundant cannabinoids found in Cannabis.

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a molecular system in the human body that balances the body’s processes. It helps the immune response, appetite, memory, and also helps cells communicate with each other. Cannabinoids have been shown to interact with the ECS system to provide different physical and psychological benefits.

Taking CBD has been known to help to stimulate your endocannabinoid system (ECS). This can promote stabilization of the body while reducing the sensation of pain, fighting inflammation, easing anxiety, and promoting a healthier sleep pattern.

Terpenes are a diverse group of compounds found in many plants including Cannabis. They are unique to the plant in which they are derived and can play a different role in the body. Some might help promote relaxation while others may assist with stress relief, pain management, or inflammation.

There are many reasons one may take CBD. If you struggle with anxiety, sleep, mood changes, arthritis pain, menstrual cramps, muscle/joint pain, nausea, depression, PTSD, or addiction, you may consider taking CBD as an alternative to prescription drugs. Although it’s not a cure for any of the symptoms listed above, CBD is a good natural option that may play a key role in alleviating symptoms.

There are four different types of CBD depending on how it is extracted: Full Spectrum Extract, Full Spectrum Oil, Broad Spectrum Oil, and CBD Isolate. All have slightly different CBD percentages, and depending on the color, smell, and potency that’s needed, some may be preferred over others for specific products.

Once the Cannabis plant is harvested, it goes through a process to extract CBD from the leaves, roots, and buds. Our CBD providers use a CO2 extraction method that uses pressurized carbon dioxide to pull out the desired compounds from the plant. Full spectrum extract CBD, also referred to as crude, is what you get the first time you extract. Although the concentration of CBD is usually the lowest in full spectrum extract form (around 65%), the amounts of other compounds and terpenes are higher.

This oil is the result of a secondary CO2 extraction method that removes most of the THC found in Cannabis leaving only 0.3%, which is under the legal limit. The concentration of CBD is usually around 80%. Full spectrum CBD oil is ideal for oils, edibles, and skin care as it creates an entourage effect, meaning that by combining cannabis compounds, it creates a stronger impact than a single compound would on its own.

After going through an additional CO2 extraction method, the product becomes completely THC free. The concentration of CBD in broad spectrum oil is fairly high (around 85%) while other compounds and terpenes are very minimal. Broad spectrum is ideal for those concerned with THC.

CBD isolate is produced with a different extraction process than the rest. The extracted oil goes through a winterization process that removes any waxes, compounds and terpenes. The finished product comes out in powder form and is usually around 99.8% CBD, making CBD isolate completely THC free with no remaining compounds or terpenes found. CBD Isolate is ideal for gum, mints, gummies, and pet products.

CBD does not have psychoactive effects. When Cannabis is grown for CBD and is harvested and extracted properly, it will contain less than 0.31% THC. In order to receive psychoactive effects, the Cannabis plant would have to contain a significantly higher percentage of THC.
